Yet Ulf also acquired a VR position approximately at the same time as he received the award. But the extra financial support given by MIVAC offers several great advantages:

"...concretely it has meant that I could hire an extra PhD student and that I can have more projects running. This not only makes research more fun, but it increases possibilities for success and interaction."

For Ulf, the other enormous asset is the MIVAC breeding unit at EBM. His group's research deals with basic research concerning routes of antigen presentation upon vaccination. This type of research requires expensive studies in animal models that are to be specifically bred for the purpose. The services of the breeding unit allow him to double the amount of experiments and secure the results by providing high-quality breeding and maintenance of lines.
