Voices and opinions about MIVAC
Impressions from a “MIVAC reflection group” meeting
“…Meetings and possibilities for exchange of research and methods are extremely important..”, says Thaher Pelaseyed , and this is readily agreed on by all others. “The seminars are very good; it is nice to get a view into what other MIVAC members are working on. Yet, we would like to know better what the other students are doing”. After some discussion, a list of skill categories to put on the homepage, and some more ways and places to meet were suggested.
We are 5 persons gathering for one or two hours to discuss MIVAC, each of us representing a group with special interests. Thaher as PhD student, Anneli Stensson as TA representative, Sanna Cardell as PI, Malin Sundquist as bridging group post-doc and me, Iris Härd calling the group together. And though some things specific for the different groups came up, other things apparently are common to all.
Anneli and Sanna are very happy with the new rules for EBM: “Now we have really good control over the breeding, available stocks etc., which saves both time and money!” (For those who do not know, all lists and information are available through the homepage, after you log in!).
It seems that the bridging projects are now generating results! Malin thinks it has been exciting (but not always easy) to work across different fields with more than one PI. But, since the way of working is so totally new, this should specifically be evaluated. Sounds like a very good idea, which will be included in the scientific evaluation that was planned already. Of course the post-docs will then be involved in the process.
Everyone had been using the homepage lately (which made me happy), though a wish for e-mail alerts about important updates is expressed. We are now doing that!
Summarizing, we had a pleasant meeting, with lots of practical suggestions and a very positive atmosphere! We will soon do this again!
